1970

Founded as Cavalier Printing Ink Company, Inc. by Samuel Wentworth Johnson, Jr. in Richmond, Virginia.


1975

Opened the second location in Toledo, Ohio as a specialist in solvent based packaging inks (Disposed of facility in 1979).


1981

Converted Reynolds Metals to water based foil, paper and board.


1982

Served mid-west converting operations by opening a facility focused on Flexographic and Lithographic inks in Louisville, Kentucky.


1984

Opened a new 30,000 sq. ft. state of the art manufacturing facility focused on rotogravure and flexographic inks & coatings.


1986

Worked in conjunction with RJR Tobacco Archer to develop quality system providing complete traceability, and product specification of color values less than 1 unit under FMC II format.


1991

Chosen as a major supplier for Hallmark Cards specializing in Rotogravure and Flexographic solvent conversion to water based.


1994

Cavalier became the first North American ink company to receive IS0-9001 re­certification (Re-certified new Iso format though 2016).


2003

Released two technologically advanced metallic systems - BronzeBond™ and Alubond™ providing complete adhesion to paper, board, foil and film substraits.


2009

Began toll manufacturing various proprietary products for specific customer needs. 


2014

Began installing new manufacturing and laboratory equipment to meet current and future production needs.


2015

Implemented aggressive cost initiatives to maintain a competitive position within our industry.  


2021

Cavalier Printing Ink Company, Inc. begins doing business as Cavalier Group, with Omar S. Hassan and Amy O. Sluss appointed by Samuel W. Johnson as corporate officers to run the company.
